About Us
In this policy whenever you see the words ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ it refers to Historic England and The Historic England Foundation.
The official name of Historic England is the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England. We are a public agency. Our statutory purposes are to:
- Secure the preservation of ancient monuments and historic buildings
- Promote the preservation and enhancement of the character and appearance of conservation areas
- Promote the public’s enjoyment of, and advance their knowledge of, ancient monuments and historic buildings
The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England is recorded on the ICO Data Protection Register under registration number Z5315038.
The Historic England Foundation is a subsidiary organisation of Historic England and is registered as a company (no. 10564101) and a charity (no. 1178368). It is a fundraising and grant-making foundation established principally to support the work of Historic England.
