North Lowestoft Heritage Quarter Heritage Action Zone
Provide support, training, advice and grant funding to bring historic buildings back into use as housing or retail spaces.
The London Road, Lowestoft High Street Heritage Action Zone will complement the North Lowestoft Heritage Action Zone that has been running since 2019.
North Lowestoft is home to many fine historic buildings, the oldest dating back to the 15th century, as well as the late-19th century registered park and garden, Belle Vue Park. The North Lowestoft Heritage Action Zone is renewing historic buildings and routes in that area, celebrating the legacy of the town’s fishing past.
The ‘London Road’ boundary encompasses a significant portion of the South Lowestoft Conservation Area, in the characterful area of The Harbour, London Road South and The Seafront. The built heritage is predominantly 19th century Victorian architecture, including the Grade II* listed Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club, the Grade II listed Post Office, National Westminster Bank and Port House and the locally listed Railway Station.
Through conservation-led regeneration, the Lowestoft Heritage Action Zones will make the town a vibrant place to live, work and visit.
