The collection comprises an incomplete photographic copy of a 16th century inventory of the Jewel House, Tower of London. The inventory recorded the jewels, plate and other valuable items stored there under the care of Sir William Paulet, Baron St. John (c.1483-1572), the master of Henry VIII's household. The original inventory was probably compiled between 1539 and 1541. The inventory takes the form of pages in a large bound manuscript volume.
The collection was transferred to the NMR in 2008.
The original manuscript inventory is presumably in the British Library, British Museum or the National Archives although it is not clear if this is an original document or a later 16th century copy. The images in this collection do not show any signatures or dates.
