Description

An envelope containing 7 photographs taken by Hallam Ashley for the NMR in 1973, prior to the site being taken into guardianship. They show interior and exterior views of the hall and castle, floor plans of the castle taken from the book 'History of Belsay' and an 1819 illustration of the the castle by Edward Swinburne. All have been cross referenced with their negative records held in the NMR. Duplicate prints make up part of the National Monuments Record, open access Red Box Collection.
