Description

A job consisting of 73 film negatives showing the Royal Ordnance Depot at Weedon Bec in Northamptonshire. The site is also known as Weedon Barracks.

The depot was built in the first decades of the 19th century in response to the Napoleonic Wars and continued to be used until the mid-20th century. These photographs were taken at the time of its closure as a military site in February 1965. The barracks were demolished but many of the other buildings including magazines, storehouses and lodges survive.

Prints are available in the Red Box Collection.
