Description

The collection contains approximately 2,000 images taken by the amateur photographer Brian Stokoe between the 1970s and the 1990s. The photographs were commissioned by the RCHME. Stokoe was based in Tyne and Wear, and the collection almost exclusively covers this and surrounding areas. It is particularly strong in recording industry and threatened buildings. Other subject matter includes: Shopping centres, suburbs, new build housing estates, pubs, street scenes, docks.

Archival History

Received Via : Purchased from Brian Stokoe, upto 1994 Provenance : Amateur photographer based in TW. Much of his coverage relates threatened buildings and re-development. Photographs date from the 1980s-1990s. 1168 of the total number of negs accquired have been accessioned into RCHME Negatives, numbers (AA92/05289 to AA92/06475)
