Former Workhouse, Thrapston, Northamptonshire

This building was originally the Thrapston Union Workhouse. It was built in 1836 as a result of the Poor Law Act. The architect was William J Donthorn. He built many workhouses in the east of England including Ely, Wisbech, Oakham and Uppingham. The Poor Law Commissioners authorised an expenditure of £4,400. It was meant to house up to 200 inmates.
